With Your Support We Are Able to Promote Jesuit Vocations, Form Jesuit Priests and Brothers, Serve at the Frontiers, Provide Healthcare to Senior Jesuits, and Imagine and Create New and Innovative Ways of Serving the Greatest Need.
Jesuits minister in colleges and universities, high schools and middle schools, retreat centers and parishes and countless apostolic works. From international relief to programs for those affected by homelessness and gang violence in our own communities, Jesuits go where the need is greatest.
No matter how you are connected to the Society of Jesus, you can become part of the Jesuit mission; you can join men and women of faith and generosity who want to make a difference in the world by putting their beliefs into action. Some do this as volunteers; many participate as donors, giving Jesuits the freedom, flexibility, resources, and training to respond to the greatest needs of the Church. Through these gifts, large and small, our donors make possible the daily miracles of the Society of Jesus and its mninistries throughout the world.
The focus of Jesuit formation is to prepare priests and brothers who are well-educated, trained in the Spiritual Exercises and have the skills to minister in a diverse and ever changing environment. Today it requires almost $50,000 a year to support each Jesuit in formation – a process that can take upwards of ten years.
Your gifts enable the Midwest Jesuits to press the boundaries toward new geographic, social, cultural, and religious frontiers. Examples of more recent innovations include the founding of Cristo Rey and Nativity model schools, the Ignatian Spirituality Project, Ignatian Volunteer Corps, JesuitPrayer.org and Arrupe College at Loyola University Chicago, the first Jesuit community college in the country.
Jesuits work around the globe in schools, parishes, and many other ministries. Many Jesuits dedicate their lives to serving those that the world has forgotten. The poorest of the poor, the homeless, refugees, the sick and dying; are all served by the ministries of the Jesuits. The Midwest Jesuits serve in the Eastern Africa Province, the Peru Province; in India, they serve in the Delhi Province, Kohima Region, and Nepal.
When Jesuits reach the end of active ministry, many reside in specialized communities that provide a home and skilled nursing care. This care is administered by medical professionals; it is made possible by the generosity of friends, former students, parishioners, retreatants and benefactors. Midwest Jesuits live at Colombiere Center near Detroit and at St. Camillus Jesuit Community near Milwaukee.
No matter how you are connected to the Society of Jesus, you can become part of the Jesuit mission; you can join men and women of faith and generosity who want to make a difference in the world by putting their beliefs into action.
