Let us pray in thanksgiving for the life of Fr. Patrick Joseph Connolly, SJ, who died on December 17, 2024 at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, California. He was 89 years old. May he rest in peace.
Pat was born on July 27, 1935 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He entered the Missouri Province on August 17, 1953 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and was ordained July 28, 1966 in Ireland. He pronounced his final vows on April 22, 1976 at Loyola University in Los Angeles. He was a Jesuit for 71 years.
Fr. Connolly pursued graduate studies in Communications at the University of Southern California, 1968-1974, during which he held teaching positions at Marymount College, Palos Verdes Estates, and on the ocean-going University of the Seven Seas. Starting in 1974, he served as professor in Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television, becoming emeritus in 2016, devoting his time to priestly ministry in local parishes and health care facilities. In 2021, he began his ministry of prayer for the Church and the Society at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center, Los Gatos.
He is survived by nieces Kathleen, May Lynn, Tara, and Meaghan Connolly; nephews Kevin and Timothy Connolly; and cousin Barbara Lindsey.
