April 30, 2018 — Marquette University High School (MUHS) in Milwaukee was recently rated as the highest performing high school in the state of Wisconsin, according to a new report by the Wisconsin Institute of Law and Liberty.
The institute recently issued a new “apples to apples” report to compare the academic performance and test scores of Wisconsin schools across sectors (public, charter, private, and Choice). The study analyzed test scores of schools by making adjustments for demographic factors known to influence academic outcomes in order to provide a fair comparison of school results.
MUHS is ranked No. 1 out of 1,972 elementary and high schools that were reviewed.
“We all recognize that test scores are not the only indicator of school success and that the MUHS mission is much broader than test scores and academic results,” said Principal Jeff Monday. “However, this report and its findings provide another piece of evidence to the many ways that our school advances our Jesuit mission and challenge and care for students as they move toward academic excellence.”
MUHS has received several top rankings in recent months. In January, Marquette High was recognized as the highest rated high school in southeastern Wisconsin and No. 3 in the state, based on accountability scores by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
