Executive Director Job Posting

The Jesuit Retreat House on Lake Winnebago near Oshkosh, WI, seeks a warm and welcoming, spiritual and inspirational, proven leader to serve as Executive Director. The successful candidate will have a bachelor s degree and be committed to Ignatian spirituality. A Masters degree and training in spiritual direction are both desirable. Knowledge of the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises and previous experience in development are required.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Humbly lead, manage, and sustain Ignatian spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises to enable the vision and mission of the Jesuit Retreat House.
  • Exercise fiduciary oversight of the ministry including institutional advancement initiatives.
  • Create, lead and sustain relationships with all key stakeholders to achieve the vision and mission of the ministry.
  • Lead and manage all Retreat House staff in a team environment to achieve and sustain the ministry.

In addition to the above, individual will need to have the ability to:

  • Collaborate effectively across different stakeholder groups
  • Manage the Ignatian vision, financial oversite and development of the retreat house
  • Dedicate the time and attention necessary to fulfill the mission of this ministry (including weekend retreats).

The retreat house offers resources to all who want to discern God’s presence in their lives. At the same time, they also aim to help their retreatants to become “contemplatives in action,” people who bring this spirituality into the everyday world.

Part-time CPA/Accountant 
Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House
Barrington, Illinois

Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House in Barrington, IL seeks a part-time CPA/Accountant. This position is responsible for closing the books monthly; preparing financial statements and other financial reports; reconciling and booking monthly investment reports from external managers; preparing the annual budget with management direction; and assisting in the annual financial audit. The CPA/Accountant is expected to provide accurate and timely information and to become knowledgeable of the retreat house mission. Once familiar with the role, the position will require two to three days a month to update and prepare accurate monthly financials and quarterly financial information for board meetings. Additional time will be needed during budget preparation (spring) and the annual external audit (summer), but overall time will likely not exceed 1,000 hours annually.

Casa Romero has several longstanding relationships with grant makers, and we regularly invite new grant makers to support our mission. Our Grants Manager is responsible for overseeing the grants portion of our advancement efforts – from identifying potential funders through final reports. This new position will report to and work closely with our Executive and Associate Directors.

Director of Advancement
The Ignatian Spirituality Project (ISP)
Chicago, IL

The Ignatian Spirituality Project (ISP) is seeking an accomplished, visionary fundraising expert. Reporting to the ISP Executive Director, the Director of Advancement is responsible for all fundraising and development activities, with an emphasis on cultivating, securing, and retaining major gifts.

She/he takes the lead on establishing and implementing a development strategy needed to sustain an annual budget of $1.5M through major gift solicitation and stewardship, annual appeals, special events, corporate and foundation support, internal and external communications, and support of the 29+ ISP affiliates and their fundraising activities. As part of the management team, she/he will play a critical role in the guiding and executing the organizational strategic plan over the next 3 years.

The Director of Advancement will “own” the development shop, but spend the majority of her/his time, in partnership with the Executive Director, on the major gift initiative described below. The right candidate will be passionate about ISP’s effort to light the path by bringing hope, healing, and transformation to people recovering from homelessness and addiction.

While our headquarters are located in Chicago, we are open to a remote position for the right candidate (must be based in the United States). Salary range is commensurate with experience. ISP also offers an excellent benefits package, including generous medical, dental, vacation, PTO, and FMLA policies, office closure between Christmas and New Years, and the potential for part-time telecommuting. (During COVID-19, all staff are telecommuting full time).
